With pools open and grills sporting their first layer of hamburger grease, summer seems to have officially begun. Weekend concerts and children’s events are in full swing, with June bringing several unique events for the entire family.

The 32nd annual Celebrate! Gaithersburg Festival takes place on June 8 in Olde Towne, around the intersection of Summit and Diamond Avenues. The event includes live music on multiple stages, activities for children and antique car show, and even a live butterfly house. Food and beer will be available from festival sponsor Dogfish Head Alehouse, as well as other vendors and local food trucks.

Running tandem with this event will be the second annual Peony Festival. The Peony, named after the Greek god of medicine and healing, is the official flower of the city of Gaithersburg. City Hall was once the home of Edward P. Schwartz, who established a peony garden in 1913, spanning five acres from the railway station to Hutton Street.
