Mayor & City Council Reject Proposed AT&T Cell Tower Location

AT&T proposed a 159-foot cell tower for the wooded area off of Great Seneca Highway, north of Washingtonian Woods’ Upshire Circle, to improve coverage to the surrounding neighborhoods. The Mayor and City Council considered the proposed location at a July 8 work session and directed city staff and AT&T to find a more suitable spot for the tower.

Councilmembers noted the proposed tower’s adverse visual impact to homes in Washingtonian Woods and Lakelands, as well as potential negative environmental impacts.
The tower would have impacted 50 homes on Upshire Circle and 100-plus homes in Lakelands, especially those on Linslade Close.
