KCF Donates 5K Proceeds to Local Charities
Each year, the Kentlands/Lakelands 5K, a program of the Kentlands Community Foundation (KCF), benefits local charities. At the Mayor and City Council meeting on Dec. 2, the KCF presented a check for $12,500 to benefit the city’s Dolores C. Swoyer Scholarship Fund. This money will enable even more children to attend the city’s summer camp. With this year’s donation, the KCF has contributed more than $177,000 to the Dolores C. Swoyer Scholarship
Fund over 17 years.
In total, this year’s 5K raised $20,000 for local charities that include The Dwelling Place, Maryland Senior Olympics and Mercy Health Clinic. This represents an increase of $5,000 over prior years.
The 2019 Kentland/Lakelands 5K Planning Committee consisted of Liz Monaco, executive director of Kentlands Community Foundation, Danny Talmage, race director, Rob Garretson, Vince Palmier, Lake Coulson, Erin Christy, Brett Esders, Karen Craney and Sharon Cantrell, along with representatives from the city.
