This exhibit celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month. There is a free artists reception on Sept. 15.

24th Annual Kentlands/Lakelands 5K

Sept. 2, 8 a.m. Kids’ Run, 8:30 a.m. 5K, Kentlands Market Square Plaza

In partnership with the City of Gaithersburg, the 5K course winds through the Lakelands and Kentlands neighborhoods, then heads down Main Street to the finish line. Live entertainment—local bands and cheerleaders—is set up along the course to delight participants and spectators alike. The post-race Merchant Expo in Market Square Plaza kicks off with the awards ceremony, team awards and many raffle items donated by local merchants.

Main Street Farmers Market

Sept. 2 & 9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Main Street Pavilion

Products for sale include a variety of fruits and vegetables, herbs, jams and jellies, baked goods, crab cakes, meat, eggs, honey, cut flowers, potted plants and dog treats.

Concert on the Lawn

Priceless Advice brings guitar rock of the ‘90s. Free.

Labor Day Parade

Sept. 4, 1 p.m., Olde Towne, Gaithersburg

Begins at intersection of Diamond and Summit (optimum viewing along Russell Ave.)

Now in its 79th year, this rain or shine event includes ethnic dance groups, antique cars and fire trucks, clowns, high school marching bands, and an assortment of community groups, equestrian units, and more. Jen Richer, co-host and executive producer of The Tommy Show on 94.7 Fresh FM, joins the parade as Mistress of Ceremonies.

Kentlands Acoustic Jam

Gaithersburg Chorus Open House

Potential new members can meet Chorus Director Daniel Hopkins, sample the fall season repertoire, and socialize while enjoying some snacks. Free.

Diamond Alley is a five-piece dance/rock and variety band performing a diverse mix of contemporary and classic hits as well as the band’s own original tunes. Free.

Singer Songwriter Concert Series – Jaimee Harris

Art After Dark – Mandala Stone Painting

Design your own mandala stone while learning the meaning of beautiful patterns and colors inspired by the cosmos. This workshop is for those 16 and older. Admission is $30 for City of Gaithersburg residents, $35 for non-residents. A $10 supply fee is due at the workshop.

‘The Canterville Ghost’ Presented by Montgomery Playhouse

In this delightful comedy, an American family acquires Canterville Chase, an historic house in England complete with a ghost. Recommended for ages 7 and up. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $12 for youth (14 and under).

Art Night Out: Paul Gauguin in Acrylic
