Young performers adapt the fantasy musical featuring characters from classic fairytales crossing paths and getting into trouble. Recommended for ages 7 and up. $15 for adults; $12 for youth 14 and under.

Kentlands/Lakelands Halloween Event

Oct. 21, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Kentlands Lawn, 485 Tschiffely Square Road

This annual event will have a Halloween parade, horse-drawn wagon rides, pumpkin and face painting, games and more activities for the whole family. Free.

Outdoor Movie Night

Watch the cult classic “Hocus Pocus” and get in the Halloween spirit. Free.

Kids come sew scarves for the homeless and give back to the community. Free.

Acoustic Jam

StoryTime Station

Civil War Ghost Tales

Actor and storyteller David Dossey tells spooky tales from the Civil War just in time for Halloween. Recommended for ages 12 and up. $20 for general admission, $12 for youth 14 and under. and

Museum After Hours Movie Screening and Pizza

Watch the 1941 movie “Ghost Train” while enjoying pizza and beer for purchase. $15 for residents of Gaithersburg, $20 for non-residents.

Murder at the Mansion Dessert Theater: ‘Murder by the Book’

Oct. 27 & 28, 8-10 p.m., and Oct. 29, 2-4 p.m., Kentlands Mansion

Enjoy the latest installment of the Murder at the Mansion series by Dean Fiala while sampling a dessert buffet. The play features actors from A Taste for Murder Productions, a professional interactive mystery performance group. $35 per person and $60 per couple includes the dessert buffet and non-alcoholic beverages, but a candy and cash bar will be available. Suitable for ages 18 and up. Call the Kentlands Mansion for ticket reservations.

Levon Mikaelian

Pianist, composer and singer Levon Mikaelian performs new original music and jazz arrangements of Armenian folk songs. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $15 for youth 18 and under.

Free event featuring Halloween-themed activities like games, a costume parade, a canine costume contest, trick-or-treating and more. Zoës Kitchen will provide complimentary snacks. Contact for information.

Local restaurants Vasili’s Kitchen, Wine Harvest, Thai Tanium, Peppers, Ming’s Asian Bistro, Crepes-A-Go-Go, Colombian Breeze, Euphroria Kitchen and SPAGnVOLA Chocolatier have special Halloween discounts and other merchants will have candy to give out for trick-or-treating.
