Students, teachers and parents celebrated Earth Day at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool by releasing 1,500 ladybugs onto plants, flowers and trees in the schoolyard. Students dressed in the likeness of ladybugs, some wearing antennae.
Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Chesterbrook Academy is committed to teaching the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
Chesterbrook Academy schools in Maryland and Virginia are part of Nobel Learning Communities, Inc., a national network of more than 185 nonsectarian private schools. The Gaithersburg academy is located near Rachel Carson Elementary.
