Quince Orchard Inaugurates Its Athletic Hall of Fame

Quince Orchard High School inaugurated its new athletic hall of fame during the weekend of Oct. 4-5 with a series of events honoring 23 former student-athletes, coaches, administrators and community members and inducting them into the hall.

The first-ever class of Cougar hall of famers began the celebration by convening with school officials at the wall of honor located inside the school’s main lobby near the gymnasium. Their names are now enshrined on the wall, where they will be joined by future inductees as selected by a committee of current and former QO administrators, coaches and local media members.

Afterward, the inaugural hall of famers were introduced to fans at the Cougar Dome before the Friday night football game against Clarksburg. They received a warm reception from the large crowd gathered for the annual homecoming game.

The official induction ceremony occurred the next night at a banquet attended by more than
100 people at a local restaurant.

Each new hall of famer was introduced, received a plaque, and spoke a few words of thanks to the assembled crowd.

“It went even better than I ever could have imagined,” reflected Jeff Rabberman, QO athletic director. “Getting to know all these people and listen to their speeches was so inspiring. It was a great weekend for our athletic department, school and community.”

The 23 members of the first hall of fame class include 17 former student-athletes who competed in 15 different varsity sports and won numerous individual and team state and regional championships and other honors. Also inducted were four coaches, two athletic directors, a principal, and a Booster Club parent.
