New Local Networking Group Forms

At the end of May, Lakelands resident and Rodan and Fields consultant Nicole Keller put the word out on Nextdoor for like-minded entrepreneurs interested in forming a local networking group. She got a great response. “It was extremely well received,” she said.

The purpose of the group is to support and grow small businesses, and Keller anticipates networking meetings once a month at the Kentlands Panera. At the first June 5 meeting, Keller said, “We all went around the table and gave a quick overview of what business we were in and how we can benefit from the group. We even gave each other suggestions and some already received referrals.”

Also at the first meeting, members decided to create a Facebook group page so that people who attend meetings can connect virtually at any time.

The group’s next meeting is Sunday, July 17 at 10 a.m. at the Kentlands Panera, and new members are welcome. If you are a local small business owner interested in joining, contact Nicole Keller at and please come to the meeting prepared with a two-minute elevator pitch about your business.

McCormick Mondays dishes are Zatarain’s â Creole Mustard: Cajun Zydeco on June 13, Grill Matesâ Brown Sugar Bourbon: Sultry Southern on June 20, and McCormick’s Crushed Chipotle: Cuban Mojo on June 27.

Critters for the Cure 5K Coming June 18

Critters for the Cure, an organization that raises funds for those needing support while fighting breast and other gynecological cancers, is very near to Fleet Feet Sports Gaithersburg store owners Chris and Robyn Gault’s hearts. Over 10 years ago, Robyn fought and won her battle against breast cancer; however, Chris’ sister was not as fortunate.

Each year Fleet Feet partners with Critters for the Cure to help those fighting the same battle by hosting The Critters for the Cure 5K Fun Run and Walk. This year’s event is Saturday, June 18, 8:30 a.m. at Fleet Feet Sports, Gaithersburg, 255 Kentlands Boulevard. Everyone is invited to take part in this great event, including the furry, four-legged member of the family. Participation is $25 per person or $50 for families. Proceeds benefit Critters for the Cure.
