XC Students Off and Running

Fleet Feet Gaithersburg, 255 Kentlands Boulevard, held its annual Cross Country Day on Friday, Aug. 18. More than 300 student athletes and their coaches participated. Seven high schools came out, including Quince Orchard and Northwest. ASICS, Brooks Running, Mizuno Running and Saucony presented running gear in Kentlands Square, and participants warmed up in Market Square before a run through the neighborhood.

Potomac Valley Shell Sells $1 Million Winning Powerball Ticket

Potomac Valley Shell, 12140 Darnestown Road, sold a $1 million winning Powerball ticket. There were 33 other $1 million winning tickets sold across the country. The jackpot winning ticket—for $758.7 million—was sold in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

Two Left Feet Staying Put

Kentlands’ original dance studio is staying in its longtime location on Market Street West to offer fall classes. Christina Vidovich, studio owner and executive dance director, anticipates that lease negotiations may be finalized soon. She is excited to keep Two Left Feet planted in Kentlands Market Square, and is pleased to announce new classes in Clarksburg, where some of the studio’s families and an instructor now live.

My Big Finds Hosts Pop-Ins

My Big Finds, selling hip, vintage and local home furnishings, décor and unique gifts at 215 Market St. West, plans two pop-ins for September. Harper + Hope’s Lindsey Wolf comes to the shop on Saturday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with her trendy children’s line of jewelry, bags, hair accessories and more. Then on Saturday, Sept. 16, noon to 4 p.m., local jewelry artist Karen Winson Kearney brings her Karen’s Rocks and Rags handmade boho and chic jewelry.

Free Yoga With Fleet Feet Gaithersburg 5K No Boundaries

New this fall, Fleet Feet Gaithersburg, has added free Tuesday yoga workouts led by Alex Stavitsky-Zeineddin of Z Yoga to their nationally recognized 5K No Boundaries program. The nine-week fall session runs Sept. 4 through Nov. 5 and includes weekly organized and coached runs, a professionally developed daily training schedule, pace group options, weekly educational/special guest discussions, and coach-led dynamic warm-up and cool-down exercises.
