Market Square Work Update
According to Caren Garfield, Kimco director of multi-family development for the Mid-Atlantic region, Kimco Realty is waiting on a final permit for the pedestrian walkway or paseo, planned to cut through the former Persiano Gallery space to Market Street. Paseo work will begin after Memorial Day in June, she said.
Interior and exterior work planned for the Kentlands movie theater is still waiting on permits, Garfield said, but work should begin this summer.
Yoyogi Sushi to Re-Open at 317 Main St.
Longtime neighborhood favorite Yoyogi Sushi closed in early May at 328 Main St. to prepare for a late May/early June re-opening across the street at 317 Main St., the former Lebanese Bistro location. Owner Nancy Liu opened the Main Street restaurant in 2003.
Bobapop Coming to Main Street This Summer
Bobapop with cafes in Hanoi, Vietnam, is coming to Kentlands’ Main Street this summer. According to the website, the opening date is June 30. Bobapop offers “bubble tea, reimagined.” For opening updates, visit www.bobapop.com.
Powerhouse Brass to Give Farewell Concert
Pritchard Music Academy’s Powerhouse Brass—Arjun Guthal (trumpet), Jason McFadden (trumpet), Kristen Gottlieb (horn), Chris Hunter (trombone) and Jacky Chung (tuba)—perform “Live! At the Arts Barn” on Monday, May 28, 7 p.m. Members of the brass quintet are all seniors headed to college. For their farewell performance, they will perform favorite pieces by favorite composers. The performance is free and open to the public.

Public Input Needed on Proposed Changes to Market Square
Kimco Realty, owners of Kentlands Market Square, are proposing a long-term, mixed-use redevelopment of Kentlands Market Square. According to Sketch Plan Application SK-7837-2018, up to 1,200,000 square feet of commercial / non-residential uses and up to 1,614 residential units are proposed for the center’s approximately 21 acres. The joint public hearing for SK-7837-2018 was held Monday, April 16, 2018. Public testimony is still being accepted.
