PMA Performs for DCA Honor Flights

Ten musicians from Pritchard Music Academy (PMA), 325 Main St., performed for two Honor Flights from Madison, Wisconsin, and Evanston, Indiana, on Saturday, Nov. 3 at DCA Reagan National Airport. PMA’s Powerhouse and Advanced Brass played for hundreds of veterans who were in DC to visit war memorials and Arlington National Cemetery.

PMA played for two Honor Flights on Oct. 20 as well. Becky Pritchard, co-owner of PMA with her husband, Joe, said that musicians met a WWII veteran who had played the French horn in the Army band during the war. “It was amazing for the kids (and us) to meet him and learn more about his life as a musician in the military during the war,” she said.

Rounding out PMA’s observance of Veterans Day were Powerhouse Brass performances the first week in November for the Marines’ 243rd Birthday Celebration at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, an “American Salute” at Asbury Methodist Village and a Retired Marine birthday celebration in Frederick.
