Edible Arrangements Celebrates First Anniversary

Edible Arrangements recently celebrated its first anniversary in Kentlands. Located near Bonefish Grill at 76 Market St. in Kentlands Square, the franchise is owned by North Potomac residents Khurram and Iram Shahzad.

“As I had hoped, this is a very fun business to be in,” said Khurram Shahzad, who is often out making deliveries of his fresh fruit arrangements on the weekend. “You are always making people happy.” The best thing about Edible Arrangements, he said, is “this ‘wow’ factor.”

The store’s sales have been steadily growing, he said. “Kentlands is a great location.”

In addition to fruit arrangements, the store has a full line of fruit to go and fresh fruit smoothies for customers looking for a sweet and healthy treat. Fruit is dipped in chocolate, and the store carries “donuts,” made from Granny Smith apple slices that are hand-dipped in semisweet chocolate and decorated with toppings.

Shahzad and his staff are gearing up for a busy holiday month. While older franchises are closed on Sundays, the Kentlands location is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
