Local Businesses Sponsor Tree Lighting Event

The Kentlands Tree Lighting on Dec. 6 in Kentlands Market Square brought the community together for live entertainment, crafts, refreshments and visits with Santa. Business sponsors made the magic happen, including Kimco, the Kentlands Community Foundation, Artists on Market, Athena Consulting, Bella Ballet Kentlands, Brendan’s Voyage, Embrace Home Loans – Rockville, Gaithersburg Garage Door, Kentlands Flowers & Bows, The Rest, Sabelhaus Team, My Gym Kentlands, Pritchard Music Academy, Starbucks, The Meredith Fogle TeamOld Line Properties, The Red Door Salon & Spa, Two Left Feet Dance, Yoga Bliss Studios, Z Yoga and Georgetown Hill.

At Home Coming Next Month

At Home will open its second Maryland store in mid-January at 209 Kentlands Boulevard, the former K-Mart location. The Texas-based home goods and décor giant opened its first Maryland At Home superstore in Frederick this July.

Salon Lofts Opening Soon

Salon Lofts, a home for independent beauty professionals, will open soon in the second-floor space at 654 Center Point Way in Kentlands Market Square. Salon Lofts Market Manager Jennifer Cullen said that opening is anticipated before Dec. 30. The Kentlands Salon Lofts can feature 20-plus beauty professionals, and 11 are already on board.

Powerhouse Brass Performs at National Christmas Tree

Pritchard Music Academy’s Powerhouse Brass performed at the National Christmas tree on Dec. 7. An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed Powerhouse’s upbeat holiday music.

Natalya Parris Artwork Selected for Arts Barn

Natalya Parris’s artwork has been selected as the cover art for the Arts on the Green 2018-2019 season brochure. Parris submitted her painting as part of a Call for Artists by the Arts Barn earlier this year, in search of designs that reflect the different art activities that occur at the Arts Barn: performing and visual arts, theatre, music, dance, film, comedy, magic, family, arts education and gallery exhibitions. In addition to gracing the season brochure, Parris’s painting will be displayed in the Arts Barn and the design is featured on a mug that can be purchased at the Arts Barn.

Absolute Repair to Re-open in New Location

Absolute Repair, formerly located on Booth Street, has moved. Owner Alan Monticelli plans to re-open in January at 847 A Quince Orchard Blvd.

Yard House Open at RIO

The Yard House opened Dec. 10 at 211 Rio Boulevard in Gaithersburg. In addition to the world’s largest selection of draft beer with 130 taps, the Yard House has more than 100 American-style dishes.

lululemon Now Open at Crown

Yoga-inspired athletic apparel company lululemon opened a Downtown Crown, 138 Crown Park Ave. store on Dec. 14. Run Farther Faster and lululemon teamed up on Saturday, Dec. 15 to host a 3.5-mile group run with breakfast and shopping offered afterwards.

GGCC 2019 Board of Directors Inducted

The new Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce (GGCC) 2019 Board of Directors was inducted on Thursday, Dec. 6. “We have a great board and I’m looking forward to a new year,” said Marilyn Balcombe, GGCC President and CEO.
