Kentlands Fall Festival a Success

The second annual Kentlands Fall Festival hosted by Bella Ballet brought close to 1,000 people out on Oct. 5 to enjoy fall treats, face painting, moon bounce and more on the lawn of the Kentlands Mansion. The event benefitted Comfort Cases, a local organization helping to provide essentials for children in the foster care system.

Diya Bistro Open Weekends Only

Diya Bistro, 917 Quince Orchard Road, is no longer open during the week. Their new hours are Friday, 5 to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Sonia Vee’s Cupcakes Donates to Bake Sale

Sonia Vee’s Cupcakes, coming soon to Main Street, is donating to the 4th Annual Kids’ Halloween Bake Sale for The Tree House, planned for Sunday, Oct. 20, 2 to 4 p.m. The Tree House CAC of Montgomery County, Maryland provides critical services to abused and neglected kids. Foundry Fitness Collects Nearly 500 Pairs of Shoes

Foundry Fitness, 205 Market St. West, exceeded their goal of collecting 350 pairs of shoes for underprivileged children and their families in Uganda. The Oct. 1-15 shoe drive for Rukundo International resulted in the donation of nearly 500 pairs of shoes.

FedEx Ground Opens New Gaithersburg Distribution Center

A new FedEx Ground distribution center recently opened at 800 N. Frederick Ave. With more than 150 employees, this new distribution center is part of the company’s network expansion plan in which 17 major hubs have been added and 500 other facilities have expanded or relocated since 2005. The daily volume of packages that FedEx Ground handles has more than doubled in the past 10 years.
