Foundry Fitness Supports The Tree House

Foundry Fitness, 205 Market St. West, teamed up with The Tree House Child Advocacy Center this month with their first-ever Thanksgiving Charity Food Drive. Fitness studio members donated baskets full of non-perishable items and a gift card for a Thanksgiving turkey; each basket contained enough to feed a family of four.

Santa Visits Long and Foster

Long and Foster North Potomac/Rockville plans an open house on Wednesday, Dec. 11 with special guest of the season Santa. The Winter Wonderland 2019 Open House will also feature refreshments and holiday crafts for kids.

Long and Foster is also collecting toys and canned food this holiday season. If you have donations for Toys for Tots or canned food, please drop them off at the front office, 189 Kentlands Boulevard, through Dec. 13.

Bella Ballet Collects Canned Food Through Nov. 19

To benefit Nourish Now, a nonprofit food bank that specializes in food recovery, Bella Ballet is holding its annual canned food drive through Nov. 19. Please bring Thanksgiving meal-related canned food items to the Bella Ballet lobby, 347 Kentlands Boulevard, and place them in the collection bin.

Prepare for the Holidays at Home—Shop the Farmers Market

The Main Street Farmers & Artists Market will kick off its winter season on Nov. 23—also Small Business Saturday. Many vendors will run specials and begin taking pre-orders, including fresh turkeys from Stone Feather Farms.

Look for two new vendors, Mel’s Munchies gourmet desserts and Gina’s Goodies LLC ready-made and personalized gifts. Vendors will be running specials for Small Business Saturday. Be sure to visit Lady A Knits and Metro Microgreens. Crêpes d’Or will be serving fresh waffles, hot chocolate and apple cider.

Kentlands Performing Arts Students Go to White House

Two Kentlands performing arts studios will be bringing student musicians to The White House next month. Pritchard Music Academy’s Powerhouse Brass has been invited to perform at The White House on Dec. 3 as part of their Holiday Open House. The Bella Ballet dance team, The Bellas, were also selected to perform at The White House Holiday Open House on Dec. 10. Student performers were chosen out of many performance groups from across the nation.

MBT Stages 31st Annual Season of ‘The Nutcracker’

Metropolitan Ballet Theatre (MBT) has been presenting the full-length traditional staging of “The Nutcracker” since 1989. Year after year MBT’s performances feature student and professional dancers, fabulous costumes and beautiful scenery, including a Christmas tree that seems to grow forever, magical dancing dolls, marching toy soldiers, giant mice, a dazzling blizzard with dancing snowflakes and a land of luscious sweets. This year’s performances will be held Dec. 7, 8 and 14 at 1 and 5 p.m. each day, and Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center, Montgomery College.

MBT also offers a shorter-length version of “The Nutcracker,” perfect for younger audience members, on Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15, 10 a.m. each day at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center, Montgomery College. These performances will be less than 45 minutes with no intermission.

Bella Ballet Plans Second Annual Kentlands Holiday Jubilee

Bella Ballet families and the entire Kentlands community are invited to a family-friendly holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 7, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Holiday Jubilee will include special performances, holiday and princess character appearances, a photo booth, ornament making, a family gingerbread bake-off, a puppy adoption opportunity and more. In lieu of an admission fee, please bring a donation for K9 Lifesavers or participate in the Bella Ballet giving tree to benefit a local family. Saydam Properties Presents Kentlands Christmas Concert & Bazaar

Saydam Properties Group at Keller Williams will hold a second annual Kentlands Christmas Concert & Bazaar to benefit The Tree House of Montgomery County on Thursday, Dec. 12, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Kentlands Mansion. A family-friendly event, this Christmas concert and bazaar features Trio Illumino, a local chamber music ensemble, and refreshments, including a hot chocolate bar and a variety of desserts. Hand-crafted gifts by local artisans will be available for purchase. All ticket sales and a portion of vendor sales will be donated to The Tree House, a nonprofit that supports abused and neglected children and their families.
