ART NIGHT OUT: Summertime Painting in Acrylic

At this monthly wine & art party, you’ll learn a bit about an artist, style or art medium, enjoy a glass of wine or beer, and make your own masterpiece. A professional artist guides you through the process; all levels of artists are welcome. No need to bring any supplies. Must be 21 or older. ID required. Workshop includes one drink ticket. KID’S ADVENTURE IN GLASS FUSING
June 10 • 1:30 p.m., Arts Barn
Explore the art of melting glass together, with a different project each month. Experiment with inclusions between glass and melting glass over forms. Students stand for most of the class. Please wear closed-toed shoes. Project may be picked up the following Saturday. Supply fee of $20 due at workshop.
STILL LIFE WORKSHOP
June 24 • 1:30 p.m., Arts Barn
Ages 16 & Up
Bring your watercolors, color pencils or charcoal and work on perfecting your still life skills for the afternoon with artist Nighat Ahmed. Students should have some experience with their medium of choice. There will be a variety of objects to choose from as you create the ideal composition. This is an excellent workshop for adding work from life to your portfolio.

Engage “Inquiring Minds” at the Community Museum
New this summer at the Gaithersburg Community Museum is “Inquiring Minds,” a series featuring exploration activities for young visitors (5 and older). “Inquiring Minds” takes place Wednesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to noon, July 5 through Aug. 16. Activities include Building Day (July 5), Earth Science Day (July 12), Animal Day (July 19), Shadow Day (July 26), Birdwatching (Aug. 2), Recycling (Aug. 9), and Solar Eclipse (Aug. 16). Supplies are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis. Admission is free; donations to cover program costs are appreciated.

Laugh & Learn at Thursday Morning Kids Concerts

This first-ever free festival combines two popular city events—Celebrate! Gaithersburg and the city’s July fireworks spectacular.
