Another summer in the pool is finally upon us as the young residents of Lakelands and Kentlands get closer to their first meet of the season. The Kentlands Kingfish and the Lakelands Lionfish have been hard at work gearing up for another action-packed couple of months.
Kingfish Head Coach Tim Brockway is as excited as ever about his upcoming team and has great expectations about the summer as a whole. He is not only confident in his swimmers’ ability, but he is sure that “all the swimmers will first and foremost have fun on the Kentlands Kingfish.”
Both Coach Brockway and Lakelands Head Coach Shannon English have seen a lot of recent success, energizing their teams. A large part of this success is the staff that both head coaches bring with them. Many of the coaches are young alums of their respective swim teams, and they bring unique perspectives that can help the swimmers grow in and out of the pool.
Both Brockway and English are aware of the effect a positive environment can have for their squads. “The biggest challenge facing any team is making sure that all swimmers, regardless of their skill level, feel like they are valued members of the team and that they are having great experiences,” Brockway said.
