National Night Out This Tuesday

Quince Orchard Park’s National Night Out, organized by QOP resident Robert Cassels, returns on Aug. 6, 6 to 9 p.m. at the QOP Clubhouse. Come out to visit with local law enforcement, including Montgomery County Police, City of Gaithersburg Police, Maryland State Police, Maryland National Capital Park Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, as well as elected officials.

Free food, fun and drink will be provided by returning local businesses. Look for Boca Botanas, Buca di Beppo, Coal Fire, Matchbox, Mission BBQ, Potomac Pizza and Wine Harvest. Kids can visit with special guest Elmo, play in a moon bounce
sponsored by The Mike Aubrey Group, get face painting from Five O Air and talk baseball with Training HQ. Adults can visit
with Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa.

Jump in With Feedback

The Board would like to hear from you! What has been your experience of the QOP pool this season?

  • How do you think the guards are performing?
  • Would you suggest any changes to the operating schedule?
  • Do you have any suggestions for changes to the pool rules?
  • Were the shower rooms and pool clean?
  • Is there enough furniture?

Any feedback that you have to offer regarding the pool would be helpful. Please send your suggestions to rpatel@tmgainc.com by Aug. 15.

Discovery Park Underway

You may have noticed activity this month behind the berm on Orchard Ridge Drive. “We’ve started doing a little bit of clearing, but you’ll start really seeing a change in the next week and a half,” said Melanie Brown, project manager for Discovery Park, the new city park that will feature three walking trails, two playgrounds and a butterfly garden. Construction should be finished in spring 2020.

Annual Inspection Complete, Notices Mailed

Quince Orchard Park’s annual inspection is complete, and letters notifying homeowners of issues were mailed on July 8. If you received a letter, please reply within 30 days. You can let the management company know that the issue has been corrected, ask for more time to complete repairs, tell us that you feel the issue was cited incorrectly or appeal the matter to the QOP Board of Directors. Please contact the management company at TMGAInc@TMGAInc.com. You can find more information at www.tmgainc.com/page/42395~929648/Annual-Inspection-Enforcement-Process.

‘Paws’ Before Dog Swim

While the final day of the pool season is sad for some, it’s the happiest of occasions for the four-legged canine inhabitants of Quince Orchard Park. The QOP pool closes for resident swimming on Labor Day, Sept. 2, at 5 p.m. This enables lifeguards to
complete season-ending tasks and set up with Dog Swim sponsors for the much-anticipated Dog Swim at 6 p.m. The event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. All QOP dogs are welcome.

Management Mentions

Dispose of Trash and Recycling

Trash is collected on Tuesday and Friday and must be placed in lidded trash cans. If left for collection in bags only, trash is ripped open by animals and strewn throughout the community. Continued use of bags may result in fines. Recycling is picked up on Fridays.

Containers with lids are now available from the City of Gaithersburg. Please contact the city at 301.258.6370 or recycle@gaithersburgmd.gov to have a lidded bin delivered and the old one picked up. Please remember that trash cans and recycle bins must be stored out of sight on non-pickup days.

The City of Gaithersburg offers bulk trash pickup (furniture, appliances, mattresses, etc.) on the first recycling day of the month. The next bulk trash pickup is Friday, Aug. 2. The City of Gaithersburg and Potomac Disposal (301.294.9700)
both offer collection services for bulk items at no cost.

Recycle Right

Do you notice more litter in the community on recycling Fridays, especially on windy days? If you do, you’re not alone. Some QOP streets are veritable wind tunnels, and an empty Amazon box can wind up in a far-off neighbor’s yard.

Please secure your recyclables by making sure that the top is closed on your 65-gallon cart and using a lid for your 18-gallon bin. Placing a large rock on top of the cart or bin also helps on windy days.

And remember to recycle right. Did you know that pizza boxes; plastic bags, film or wrap; Styrofoam and polystyrene; and  empty bottles of motor oil, antifreeze or pesticides are all not recyclable? If you add these to your recycling pickup, the contents of your recycling bin or cart will be left at the curb.

For a complete list of recyclables, visit www.gaithersburgmd.gov.

Do Your Dog Duty

Cleaning up after dogs is the legal responsibility of every canine owner walking a dog in the community. Dogs are not permitted off-leash on common property in the City of Gaithersburg.
