Soccer Club Coming to Urbana

The Urbana Soccer site is located at 3348 Big Woods Road and will feature four fields, four open-air pavilions, four parking lots, restrooms and storage—with a clubhouse added at a later date. Redistricting Meeting Planned

Hear about the second round of concepts for the Linganore, Oakdale and Urbana redistricting study on June 4, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Urbana High School Auditorium; Wednesday, June 5, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Linganore High School Auditorium; and Thursday, June 6, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Oakdale High School Auditorium. Following this series of presentations, the superintendent will deliver recommendations to the Board of Education in September. NHS Student Raises Funds for Food Bank

Caroline Coleman collected food and baked cookies and sold them to raise much-needed funds for food bank families in the southeastern portion of the county. Caroline donated the proceeds from the bake sale and all food items to the Greater Urbana Area Food Bank. The food bank assists 235 families, meaning that more than 800 men, women and children benefitted from her efforts.

Jo Ostby, food bank operations manager, said, “The food bank is always happy to have students choose us as the beneficiary of their fundraising endeavors. Students always do such a great job.”

Office Building Proposed for Urbana Pike

Urbana One LLC is seeking Concept Site Plan approval for a two-level, 7,400-square-foot office building located on a .45-acre site in the Village Center Zoning District on Urbana Pike, across the street from Casa Bella Commons. The building will have a 3,700-square-foot footprint, similar to larger homes in the VOU, Frederick County Principal Planner Denis Superczynski explained. Architecture will suit the Village center. Following Concept Site Plan review and approval, the applicant will file an application for a conventional Site Plan, Superczynski explained. A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 9:30 a.m. at Winchester Hall.

Golf Tournament Supports UHS Football

The 6th Annual Urbana Football Golf Tournament and Social will be held on Friday, June 21, 10:30 a.m. at the P.B. Dye Golf Club. Half of the funds raised will support the Urbana High football program. For more information and to register, visit www.uhawksfootball.com.

Dog Park Now Open

The Urbana District Park Dog Park is now open. It is located along the perimeter trail, near field 5.
