Extreme cold didn’t discourage the Davis family on Byron Circle—in fact, they embraced it! Father and son Quentin and Nathan Davis and family friend Mathew Shannon built an igloo with help from the Davis family’s other children, Ashlin and Ryan. They got ice from a local lake, cut blocks with a chainsaw and lifted each one with a snow shovel. Individual bricks weigh approximately 70 pounds, and it took 105 bricks to build the igloo.

The Urbana Exxon at 8816 Fingerboard Road should reopen in a couple of weeks, according to owner Sameer Ailawadi. The Exxon has been redoing tanks and installing a brand new high-speed pump for diesel. This will enable large vehicles like those from the Urbana Fire Company to fuel up faster.
