UES Strawberry Festival

Last Full Measure of Devotion

May 26-28, May 26, Flag Installation, 9-11:45 a.m.; Ranger Programs at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. all three days, Monocacy National Battlefield

Over Memorial Day weekend, Monocacy National Battlefield will honor the casualties of the Battle of Monocacy by installing 2,200 historic flags. Individuals, groups, or families interested in assisting with the installation of flags should be present to volunteer on May 26 from 9:00 am to 11:45 am. Ranger programs specific to Memorial Day will be presented. Free.

Urbana Library Farmers’ Market

The market features local farmers, food concessions, artisans, artists and craftspeople.

Honor Our Heroes 5K

May 28, 8-11 a.m., Villages of Urbana

Honor Our Heroes on Memorial Day with a family-friendly 5K run/walk. $10/per person; $20 maximum per household; all current and retired military are free. Proceeds will be donated to a military charity. To register, visit www.villagesofurbana.net.

Twilight Hikes at Monocacy National Battlefield

May 29 & June 30, 7 p.m., Gambrill Mill

Prowl around the park with a ranger at twilight and search the trails for wildlife. Each hiking program will meet at the Gambrill Mill. Allow up to two hours for each hike on the half-mile trail. Closed-toed shoes and proper attire based on the weather are recommended along with drinking water and bug spray for added comfort and protection. Become a Weed Warrior 2 – Weeding Practice

Practice learning how to identify and remove invasive weed species in our community. Required second class to achieve Weed Warrior certification. Participants will meet at the rear entrance of the library.

Offsite FCPL Fun Days

Artillery Day

June 9, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monocacy National Battlefield

The thunderous roar of field artillery returns to Monocacy National Battlefield for a day of demonstration and living history. Experience a unique soundscape and learn what it may have been like to serve in the artillery during the Civil War. Artillery firing demonstration will take place at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.

Real Estate Panel

Learn about market trends and get your questions answered about all things real estate. The panel will consist of a home appraiser, mortgage lender, home inspector, stager, and a realtor. Free.

Strawberry Festival

This “Old-Time Church Social” features strawberries and ice cream, chicken and ham platters from 4 to 7 p.m., a bake table, cake walks and music by the Browningsville Band starting at 6:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs. Memory Lab Oral History Collection
