Giant Pharmacy Robbery Suspect in Custody

On Wednesday, June 6 at approximately 8:25 pm, deputies were dispatched to the Giant Food Store on Sugarloaf Parkway for a reported robbery of the pharmacy. Upon arrival, deputies learned that a bearded white male wearing sweatpants, a dark-hooded sweatshirt with a Cummins Diesel logo on the back, and a straw hat approached the Giant Food Store Pharmacy counter and told the employee he had a gun and to give him all their narcotics. No gun was displayed during the robbery. The suspect was given an unknown quantity of drugs from the pharmacy and then fled the store.

On June 17, Robert Bottenfield, 24, of Gaithersburg was arrested in connection with a CVS pharmacy robbery in Greenbelt and is currently incarcerated in Prince George’s County. According to Major Tim Clarke, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has charged Bottenfield with the Urbana Giant Pharmacy robbery. FCSO has a detainer for him and warrant will be served once he is released from his charges in Prince George’s County.

Bottenfield is also connected to the June 16 Frederick Walgreens Pharmacy robbery (Opposumtown Pike) and a Feb.5 Martinsburg Walgreens Pharmacy robbery.

Incidents in VOU

Homes and cars were egged in the Notting Hill/Tottenham area and Bishopgate/Ethan Ridge Drive area on the evenings of June 11 and June 14, respectively. In addition, car tires were slashed in the Notting Hill/Tottenham area. During the early morning hours of June 15, a noose was left hanging from a tree on Denison Street. Police are investigating all incidents.
