The Villages of Urbana (VOU) Swim Team is under disciplinary review by the Frederick Summer Swim League (FSSL) for alleged inappropriate parent behavior on deck during a recent meet, sources say.
Officials with the Division One VOU swim team are making no comments on the incident and FSSL officials failed to return repeated attempts for comment on the controversy.
Sources within the team, however, have said that the VOU team was still on schedule to host the Divisionals meet, the final meet of the swim season that includes all teams in the Seahawks’ division. Urbana’s swimmers, however, allegedly will be swimming exhibition only, meaning their scores will not count in the meet results, and they will not get any ribbons for their individual efforts.
The FSSL is continuing to review the complaints about parents drinking alcohol and becoming belligerent during a recent Seahawks’ meet against the Windsor Knolls Wahoos on June 25.
The Seahawks won that contest 299 to 338. The FSSL website shows the Seahawks with zero points in the division despite that win against the Wahoos.
