National Dance Day Celebration Planned

Urbana Dance and Performing Arts will celebrate National Dance Day and their new location at the Urbana Village Center Shopping Center July 31, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., with dancing and activities for all ages.

Studio owner Sonia Davis is also hoping to catch the eye of the producers of the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” and submitted an entry to win a visit by the shows camera crews during the event.

“You do not have to be a dancer to participate in National Dance Day,” said studio owner Sonia Davis. “Our goal is to fill up the parking lot.”

Instructors will teach a dance choreographed by Dizzy Feet Foundation before the floor is opened up for freestyle dance. Face paintings, a moon bounce and activities are also scheduled, and other center tenants including Buffalo Wild Wings, Ledo’s Pizza and Urbana Card Shop will participate as well.

Local Spa Hosts Staff Appreciation Day at Frederick Keys Stadium

City Magnolia Day Spa headed to the ball game for staff appreciation day.

“It was my first time attending a Keys game,” said owner Aubrey Rogers. “I didn’t realize how fun it is. It was a great way to spend time with our staff outside of work, and we won!”

“The management at the stadium could not have been more helpful in helping us plan our Staff Appreciation Day,” added owner Beth Mackey. “What a great way for area businesses to do something fun for their staff.”

The day included a stadium-catered picnic lunch, the game and fireworks.
