C2 Education Opens

C2 Education, offering subject tutoring, SAT®, ACT® and PSAT® test prep and college admissions help, opened June 18 at 3511 John Simmons St. next door to Massage Envy in the Giant shopping center. This is C2’s first location in Frederick County and the 14th location in Maryland. With the opening of this location, the center will bring more than 30 full and part time jobs to the local area.

“We are so excited to finally be a part of the Urbana and Frederick communities,” said Center Director Melannie Young. “Local area residents will now have a great new resource to help their kids go on to their dream colleges.”

Grace of India Now Delivers

The new Grace of India Restaurant in Urbana now offers delivery via Grubhub seven days a week. To use Grubhub, you register on either their website or their free app on your mobile device. Once registered, you can save your favorite restaurants, view the deliverable menu items, order and pay through Grubhub. There is a $25 minimum order and delivery is free. Grubhub even allows you to preorder up to four days in advance.

The Village Orthodontist Adds 3D Printer

Dr. Jon Moles and his team at The Village Orthodontist, 3549 Urbana Pike, have expanded their orthodontic technology with a 3D printer. They’re now able to print 3D models from patients scans and fabricate their retainers instead of sending the diagnostic information to a lab.

Kiddie Academy Anticipates August Opening

Kiddie Academy, enrolling kids from six weeks through 12 years of age, hopes to open at 3401-D Urbana Pike in Urbana this August. The school broke ground at the Landon Crossing site at the intersection of MD 80 and 355 in April.

“We are so thrilled that we will soon open and provide our unique services to more children in the Urbana area,” said Jessica Peay, owner. “This is a really exciting time for us and we look forward to introducing our well-trained, attentive staff to local area parents and their children.”

Clothing Donation Bins

Have you noticed the donation bins popping up around Urbana over the past several years? If you have dropped items in these bins, do you know where you donated items are going? One set of bins located in the Giant Food parking lot benefits the well-known charity of St Vincent de Paul of Baltimore, which has been serving the Baltimore community since the Civil War era. These donation bins offer a convenient 24-hour drop off location for donations. If you wish to get a receipt, simply go to vincentbaltimore.org and type “bin receipt” in the search bar. You will be taken to a screen that prompts you for the necessary information to obtain an emailed receipt for tax purposes.

Free Benefit Car Show in August

On Sunday, Aug. 10, noon to 3 p.m., Urbana Dynamic Auto will be holding its 10th Annual Benefit Car Show hosted by Golden Gears Car Club at their 8824 Urbana Church Road location. (The rain date is Aug. 12.) Participation in the car show is by donation and proceeds from the event benefit Second Chances Garage, an organization that helps fund affordable transportation and auto repairs for veterans. Registration begins at 10 a.m. on the day of the event and entrance is free to the public. There will be cars, food, a 50/50 raffle, activities for the kids, and fun for the whole family.
