Urbana Advanced Aesthetics Skin Spa to Open

Urbana Advanced Aesthetics Skin Spa will be opening the first week of December at CasaBella Commons, 3532 D Urbana Pike. Services offered will include skin facials and enhancements such as Botox and Juvederm, as well as cosmetic and body procedures such as tattoo removal and laser hair removal. Renovated House to Be Home of New Market and Deli

The house next door to the old Urbana Elementary School site, currently undergoing renovations, will be home to Pumpernickel + Rye, a local market and deli specializing in locally sourced produce, meat and specialty items. The house is part of the new Casabella Commons. According to Casabella codeveloper Paul Hynes, the “homegrown neighborhood market and deli which will feature gourmet sandwiches, coffee, lox and bagels, all kinds of really wonderful food.” Pumpernickel + Rye will be takeout, but it will offer outside tables and deck space.

The Anchor Bar Planned for Former Tilted Kilt Site

The Buffalo, New York-based Anchor Bar, established in 1964 and known for its wings, will be taking over the former Tilted Kilt location at 5605 Spectrum Drive near the Francis Scott Key Mall. Urbana-based TriKelly Construction is doing the renovations.

Goddard School Collects Toys for Tots

Through Dec. 14, the Goddard School of Urbana at 3825 Carriage Hill Drive is proud to serve as a drop-off location for Toys for Tots. Drop off your unwrapped gifts and toys and make a child’s holiday season bright.

Kiddie Academy Debuts New Music Program

Urbana’s newly opened Kiddie Academy child care center has just added a program to their curriculum called Music & More. In partnership with Kindermusik International, Urbana’s Kiddie Academy now has instructors trained to teach this weekly 30-minute, age-appropriate educational program that includes music, fun and movement. Santa to Visit Green Meadows Farm

Santa Claus is coming to Green Meadows Farm, 10102 Fingerboard Road, Dec. 8 and 9, 1 to 5 p.m. each day. This first-time event includes photos with Santa, wagon rides around the farm, visiting with the animals, a holiday shopping bazaar, food vendors and a farm ring. Tickets are $7. Sweet Babes More of a Treat With Cakes

The new Sweet Babes Creamery, located at 3534 Urbana Pike in Casabella Commons, now offers ice cream cakes in multiple flavors. They offer an 8-inch size for $30, which serves 8 to 10 people, or a 10-inch size for $40, which serves 12 to 16 people. Holiday Hoopla Planned at The Find

The Find Consignment in the Green Valley Shopping Center, 11791 Fingerboard Road, is holding its annual Holiday Hoopla ladies’ night event at the store on Monday evening, Dec. 10, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Look for sales, door prizes, food, fun and Santa, too. CAVA Coming to FSK Mall Area This Summer

CAVA, the DC-based Mediterranean fast casual restaurant, will open at 5615 Spectrum Dr. near the Francis Scott Key Mall in summer 2019. CAVA Frederick will be 2,166 square feet, and it will seat 36 people and also offer outdoor seating.

Kannavis Moving to New Location

Kannavis, the medical marijuana dispensary currently located at 3362 B Urbana Pike, will be moving to a larger location on Dec. 14. The new dispensary site is located just off of I-270 in Urbana at 8709 Fingerboard Road. Eight dispensing counters, including a dedicated express counter, a patient restroom and improved parking will better serve patients. Hours at the new location will be extended Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

Kannavis will share its new location with Kannavis Trading Company, a wellness-oriented accessories store featuring hemp-based CBD-infused products, nutritionals, pet products, cannabis accessories and more. Kannavis Trading Company will be open to the public 18 years or older and does not require a medical card to patronize.
