Giant Partners With Food Bank
The Giant Food store in Urbana gave local residents the opportunity to add items for food bank families to their carts at checkout. Cereals, elbow macaroni, peanut butter and rice and pasta sides were collected and given to the Greater Urbana Area Food Bank for distribution to the food bank’s 234 local families.
Green Valley Carry-Out to Open Again Soon
The popular neighborhood carry-out, known especially for its pizza and wings, hopes to re-open at the end of January. The carry-out roof was being redone in October, and the roof caught fire the evening of Oct. 23. Local firefighters, including the New Market District Volunteer Fire Company, quickly responded and put the fire out, but damage forced the business to close for a few months. The Green Valley Carry-Out is located at 11801 Fingerboard Road in the Green Valley Shopping Center.
Rights of Man Farm
Although the Rights of Man Farm store is closing for the winter, you can still order products from their website, www.rightsofmanfarm.com. Throughout the winter season, you can either request that your online order be delivered to your home or you can schedule a time to pick your order up at the farm. Two Urbana Dry Cleaners Consolidate Stores
At the end of December, the dry cleaners formerly located in the Turning Point Plaza closed and formed a partnership with the
Villages Cleaners at Urbana, located in the Giant Food shopping center. They will continue to offer tailoring services as well as eco-friendly dry cleaning services.
