Sage Cakery Now Open

Nikkie Byrd, an Urbana High 2001 graduate, and her partner, Kurtis Esworthy, opened Sage Cakery at 3401 Urbana Pike next door to Papa John’s Pizza on May 21. The bakery offers cakes, cupcakes, mini-cupcakes, cake pops, cookies and dessert bars made from locally sourced, nonGMO ingredients whenever possible. Urbana Pediatrics to Open July 1

Dr. Jennifer Burns will open her own pediatric practice on July 1 at Casa Bella Commons, 3534A Urbana Pike. Dr. Burns, a Board-certified pediatrician and member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, has been a pediatrician in Frederick County for more than 14 years and is an Urbana resident. Sage Physical Therapy & Wellness Raises Funds for Arthritis Cure

Sage Physical Therapy & Wellness, located in Casa Bella Commons, raised $522 for the Arthritis Foundation and participated in the inaugural Frederick Walk to Cure Arthritis at Baker Park, organized by Urbana High senior Emily Mogel. Sage collected donations in the weeks leading up to the walk. The staff member who brought in the most donations got a pie—in the face. The winning staff member was Laura Hartman, MS, exercise physiologist.

The Green K9 Anticipates August Opening

Maryland native Marni Lewis, owner of The Green K9 grooming and daycare, anticipates an August opening in the Urbana Green Apartments ground floor retail space. Lewis owns another The Green K9 in Mount Dora, Florida, but she is now an
Urbana resident. She joins her sister, who has lived here for 15 years.

Rehab 2 Perform, owned by Dr. Josh Funk, opened a third location in the Mt. Airy Twin Ridge Business Center, 1202 Rising Ridge Road, Suite 1. The Mt. Airy location joins the group’s Frederick and Germantown physical therapy and rehabilitation centers. Dr. Funk decided to open a Mt. Airy location because the area is “very community-focused (with) a high amount of

New Kids’ Music Class Debuts
