Surf House Debuts Music on New Patio
Picture this: UHS alum and Hammocks frontman Gary McKee performing from the “We Could Be Giants” Surf House lifeguard chair with his band set up at his fee, and underground DMV DJ Whighzeguy (AKA Greg Duilleáin) spinning tunes from his 5-terabyte repertoire—all on The Surf House’s newly opened patio.
Soon you won’t have to use your imagination. It’s coming next Saturday, Aug. 3. Music starts at 7 p.m. and continues until 11 p.m.
Owner Tom Seymour said that music will be a regular event at The Surf House, at least once a month. While the focus will be on local artists, he welcomes all musicians and is looking to make this into a “cool and micro thing.”
He’s looking forward to hosting Whighzeguy often, noting Whighzeguy’s deep collection of old-school Reggae—“stuff none of us have heard before.”
Guys can expect to pay a $5 cover, women are admitted free. “It will be a family event, especially at dinnertime,” Seymour said.
UHS grad and UFC mixed martial arts champion Matt Semelsberger will be there to visit with music-lovers and keep the peace.
Food and drink specials will start at 4 p.m., and the patio may even sport a tub of beer. In the meantime, don’t miss The Surf House’s new Happy Hour rollout. You’ll find Sangria Sunday, Margarita Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wine Wednesday and Thirsty Thursday.
