Day Trips: Various Fridays
The flyer about day trips for June – September is now available. Trips include Torpedo Factory Art Center, Mount Clare Museum House, Arlington National Cemetery and whitewater rafting. Don’t miss out! Space is limited so register soon.
Picnic at Urbana District Park:
June 5, 10:30 a.m.
The Urbana Senior Center is hosting a picnic for all the Frederick County Senior Centers. Picnic lunch: hotdogs, baked beans, coleslaw, watermelon and brownies. The event also includes door prizes and bingo.
Silver Ribbon Series:
June 10 – 14, 10 – 11 a.m.
The Frederick County Department of Aging and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and are pleased to announce the Second Annual Silver Ribbon Series. These informative sessions are based around elder abuse and public safety concerns. Seniors, caretakers, professionals and community members are invited to attend this free series at the Department of Aging, 1440 Taney Avenue, Frederick.

Have trouble falling asleep? Staying asleep? Join us for a talk on how to develop healthy sleep habits.
Mobile Information and Assistance (I &A):
A team from Maryland Food Bank, Energy Assistance and the Department of Aging will visit the center to provide information, answer questions and complete applications for SNAP (food stamps), Energy Assistance and Medicare Subsidies.
Omelet Bar/Ask Nurse Steve:
June 19, noon
Omelets created to order! Choose from a variety of ingredients to make lunch your way. Nurse Steve’s talk will be “How can I keep these old bones healthy and working well?”
Medicare and Medigap Workshop:

Nutrition and Herbs for Brain Health:
June 26, 1 p.m.
Do you feel like your brain has changed since you have gotten older? Join us for a discussion about how our brains change with age. Learn how certain food and herbs might improve brain health. This program is presented by Susan Hirsch, a licensed nutritionist and clinical herbalist with Grow Wisdom Herbals.

Each Tuesday we gather together for an evening meal.
Help us fill our bulletin board with “hello” in different languages. Come share your country’s greeting with us. Bring something from your country (or from your travels) to help make our seasonal tree an international tree.
Free WiFi and computers, with high-speed Internet access, are available for use any time the center is open.
